My artwork is a celebration of color and pattern and an exploration of all the ways these two elements can be arranged. Each piece is made of 1 inch leather triangles that are cut by hand and arranged in patterns and abstract compositions. Restricting myself to use only triangles helps focus my work, stops me from any attempts at being representational and reminds me that limits can be truly inspirational. I do not need access to every shape available in order to create. Additionally, this self-imposed rule also allows for other details of the leather to be highlighted.

Color is the foremost guide in creating my work so a color palette is always established first. Texture and finish of the leather is then considered followed by weight or thickness. After an initial pattern is established, colors are adjusted intuitively and finally, the composition is mounted onto a wrapped canvas or mat board using leather cement.
